The Big Latch On started in New Zealand in 2005 as part of World Breastfeeding Week. This week–the first in August– commemorates the 1990 WHO and UNICEF Innocenti Declaration to promote breastfeeding and the health of babies around the world. The aims of the Big Latch On are to increase public acceptance of breastfeeding and build community support for breastfeeding mothers. It is coordinated by Small Beginnings Group and Women’s Health Action. Last year, 8,862 nursing pairs participated in locations around the world. Let’s see how many more come this year!
See you there!
